The legacy of Cunard...
It was a more civilized era, the golden age of sea travel. Crossing
the ocean was a grand event unto itself, the very embodiment of sophistication
and privilege. And traveling Cunard was what one naturally chose
for such a voyage. Cunard's glorious ocean liners were floating
palaces of art deco splendor and Edwardian excess, surrounding guests
with every comfort and luxury. They attracted the greatest personalities
of the day, from world leaders to movie stars, who sipped champagne
at festive black-tie soirees and strolled along graceful promenades
attired in their finest apparel. It was the quintessence of
luxury travel, and getting there was truly half the fun.
Cunard continues this celebration of style with Queen Mary 2 and Queen
Elizabeth 2 - proving once again, with Cunard, the journey may be
even more magnificent that the destination. Cunard Line proudly continues
a tradition of luxury cruising that began in 1840. Today its flagship,
Queen Elizabeth 2, is the world's most famous ship and the greatest
liner of her time. She maintains the legacy of her Cunard and White
Star Line predecessors in providing a definitive annual World Cruise
and the only scheduled transatlantic liner service. QE2 very much
sets the standard of traditional British elegance, superb White Star
Service, gourmet cuisine and sumptuous accommodations that have secured
Cunard's reputation.
In 2000, QE2 was joined by another classic liner, Caronia, formerly
known as Vistafjord, which also delivers an elegant, Old World cruising
experience. Whether on voyages or cruises, these two Cunard Line vessels
create a new golden age of ocean liner travel, for those who missed
the first. Imagine a floating palace where the pleasures are unmatched.
Where royalty, millionaires and film stars have been known to stroll
on gleaming teak decks while savoring the earth's most dramatic panoramas.
Welcome aboard the one and only Queen Elizabeth 2. Thanks to a refurbishment
from bow to stern, she is uniquely prepared to pamper you with the
utmost contemporary comfort. Still the only ship offering regularly
scheduled transatlantic service, Queen Elizabeth 2 is also an honored
guest in ports near and far. Sailing the world's waters, she becomes
your glamorous refuge.
To heighten this sense of occasion, QE2's 2003 season of transatlantic
crossings will be her last. In 2004, QM2 takes up the reins while
QE2 turns her attention to an exciting program of cruises sailing
roundtrip from Southampton. Queen Mary 2 is the world's largest, longest,
tallest, grandest ocean liner ever! Since she set sail from Southampton
on her maiden voyage on January 12, 2004, excitement surrounds her all
over the world. Queen Mary 2 has been awarded a maritime Oscar from
Berlitz in their 2005 guide to Ocean Cruising & Cruise Ships.
The famous liner’s Queens and Princess grill accommodations
were awarded five stars – ranking Queen Mary 2 seventh out of
more than 260 ships – and besting the luxury vessels of Silversea,
Crystal and Radisson Seven Seas.
Classic Cunard hallmarks weave throughout Queen Mary 2: sweeping staircases,
soaring public rooms, a grand ballroom, a 360° promenade deck.
With one staff member per couple, Cunard's renowned White Star Service
is also assured.
The most anticipated ocean liner in the world also comes with an unprecedented
cache of luxuries and innovations. Three-quarters of her staterooms
have balconies. Lavish two-story duplexes even have their own private
exercise equipment. Exciting restaurants like Todd English and Cunard's
renowned Grills create the premier dining experience at sea.
A space ratio of 57.25 makes her one of the roomiest vessels anywhere.
Even that can't prepare you for the endless possibilities which occupy
all this space - 14 decks of sports facilities, shops, bars, lounges, 5
pools and no fewer than 10 restaurants, a largesse which allows you
the freedom to experience your own preferences and passions.
